This work generated valuable intellectual property, technical expertise, and practical insights into how organisations identify opportunities, evaluate technologies, and make complex strategic decisions.

The work continues through research, collaboration and knowledge exchange with organisations exploring how to build internal AI and innovation capabilities responsibly and effectively.

PIONEERING THE FUTURE OF TECHNOLOGY COMMERCIALISATION

Natasha Allden,  is leading a PhD research programme with QinetiQ and Cranfield University, exploring one of innovation’s most overlooked opportunities: outbound innovation – the commercialisation of existing technologies into new applications.

While many organisations recognise the value of outbound innovation, few actively pursue it — and there’s little guidance on how to do it well.

The research defines the core characteristics of outbound innovation and develops practical decision-making models that help businesses identify, and design successful innovation projects.

Together, we’re shaping the future of how proven technologies find new markets and applications — powering more effective, scalable, and sustainable innovations into new applications worldwide.
